why the player load automaticly ALL video on the page ? <- when i get 4 or more THAT's SUCKS
why the player is not showed on full screen ?
AND WHY WHEN I MOVE THE TIME CURSOR I GET A SPLASH SCREEN <- THAT'S SUCKS

?
So can you
improve the auto loading, swicth to off
improve the player on full screen
AND REPLACE THE SPLASH SCREEN TO A SHORTCUT ICON AT THE TOP LEFT OF THE PLAYER TO THE SITE when we click on the video load in a player
?

thanks for the work !

you can grab some idea of the illimitux !

you responding me:

Hi, thanks for your feedback, much appreciated.
If you don't mind, could you please copy & paste your post on http://forum.cacaoweb.org/ ?
The present forum hosted on sourceforge is way too slow so it was moved.

Back to your suggestions:
- having the player widgets in full screen is definitely something that will be added later on.
- What do you mean with splash screen? Actually i didn't understand the whole thing about splash screen, could you please elaborate on this?

i post an image attachement that's annoying to get this all time...
and change the shortcut to that forum ! Wink

Splash screen: Watched with Cacaoweb

We see this at the end of the video when the player stops.

But, if we click on the timeline, to replay the file, the splash screen (Watched with cacaoweb) is still there.

Ok, now its my turn:

More then one megavideo embed in one web page = crash of flash player if cacaoweb is enabled... or we got to click on pause for each cacaoweb player on the web page. Solution = GO button like megavideo red/green play link button.

The widget is not user friendly, need more options. And it is not always on top. Always beneath embed player (so, beneath Embed Flash plug-in). And its not moveable. And the iphone design is not quite appropriate ( don't mind, i hate apple ^^) I've spend 3 min to find how to close it. Remember the conventional "x" button for closing an application? not O ^^ (Heh, i'm a window user)

No complete sound control, no control in fullscreen mode. See, i'm watching streaming in my living room with a mouse (yes i have a keyboard, but hey i'm a lazy guy when i'm on my couch) It takes me 2 days to found the double clcik int he bottom right to exit the fs mode.

And, if you can, try to input the 4:3/16:9/original ratio option, like megavideo player.

BUT, cacaoweb is wonderfull afterall. Thank you so much! Congrats for the great work!

P.S. Cacaoweb its not working at the moment, (application and plug-in) i have to wait the 54 minute even if cacaoweb is enabled. I do not see the pop up message in the cacaoweb player, the playing just stop because the file is not complete, but the video timeline coordinate with the limit. ( i disabled cacaoweb, tried to watch with mega, and its said that i've got to wait like 14 minutes, after the 14 minutes, cacaoweb re-start dowloading)

Happy Coding!

wow, this is definitely the best user feedbacks we got since the start of the cacaoweb project! Congratulations for that guys, your contribution is very helpful.

So first, I understand that the flash player needs a bit of improvement. This was something planned for a long time but now i guess it's time to do it.
A few points where I would need more information though:
  • what do you mean with "crash of the flash player if cacaoweb is enabled" ? Do you have any web link that can reproduce this behavior?
  • the fact that the video is played automatically is definitely annoying, but the thing is most users of cacaoweb are not very computer literate and probably wouldn't know how to launch the video. I'll try to think about an alternate solution, let me know if you have any suggestion. Moreover I think that Megavideo is using the big red button to trigger the "Show ad" action, nothing else. I don't really see the value in this button.

For the rest, well, this will just be implemented in the next few days.

PS: the P2P network was down today (event that happens once a month or less), I don't know for how long since it went completely unnoticed. In this case cacaoweb simply works as if it wasn't installed  Grin

hi there, thank you foe the fast anwser!

ok lets see this point by point

1- The Flash player Crash/Automatic plyback

The computer i'm using in my linving room is not very powerful. Flash player required a certain amount of processing/memory and if the cpu cannot manage the data in the approriate time (milisecoind) the player stops instead of crashing the whole page (i think its a crash security) and give a gently message saying flash player crash(in the embed area of course). I don't know if is it Mozilla/firefox or the plug in itself (Adobe), but it is not very important because the we know the cause.

I understand your point when you're talking about the red/green play button, but i was thinking something else instad of the pub thing.

Like you said, common user don't want to sracth their head, thats why i was talking about a go button:

-First, the plug-in dtect the megavideo player (as you code)

-Second, Cacaoweb can then load a very simple primary interface, without any P2P communication, that can be compared to the megavideo player red button: The goal is to load a very little amount of data. And more, if more than one player must be load at the same time, there's no conflict/automatic playback/crash of player.

-Third, the user press the go button (maybe the cacaoweb little computer icon) and the secondary interface is loading in that embed player(the actual interface). In that way we resolve a lot of problems. And there's no P2P demand for unwanted playback of the other megavideo player on the same page! In that way, we save playback time of megavideo P2P networking and the complete system is more efficient! Note this is only for the mozilla plugin.

2-I don't remeber, i'll post this message and see what i was suppose to say... hehehe

Thank you for listening,

There's no more point, but i had a idea:

The primary interface can include 2 links/button instead of a single go button:

PLay with cacaoweb (trigger to the secondary/playback interface)
Play with Megavideo (trigger to retrun to the megavideo interface)

Now, i don't know if cacaoweb can isolate a single embed player, to return to the megavideo player without reloading the whole page. If not,  I'm sure thats why you brought the widget. I have a solution for that, but i think that's enough for the moment! Smiley

Thank you again,

Uberjoe

Thanks for your suggestions.

After reading your comments, I have a few things to say :
First, it's definitely a shame that Flash is such a processor hog. In the latest versions of Firefox, flash is isolated from Firefox so when flash uses too much cpu and crashes, it does so gracefully without killing the whole browser with it, but of course the current playbacks are dead.
Now please note that the cacaoweb firefox addon is merely just what brings up the Flash player to consume cacaoweb content, nothing more. On the other side, cacaoweb instantiate p2p connections to bring the content to your computer. This part (thank to cacaoweb wise usage of resources) hardly consumes any cpu. It does consume a lot of network bandwidth, which you don't care if your internet plan is uncapped.
So basically what is bad is the launch the flash player. There is not much point in trying to reduce the number of p2p connections (it's a waste of an unlimited resource so it's just fine).

I will try to integrate all these suggestions in the next version.
The next update of cacaoweb will also provide a little surprise. (not related to the megavideo module though)
It should be releaseable next week.
Let's see!
