Twenty-seven-year-old Shalinie Bansupaul, a mother of three, is disgruntled at the slothfulness of police at Vigilance Police Station, who are investigating an accident that has left her ten year-old daughter incapacitated.Bansupaul, a housewife of Lot 62 Eastville, Annandale Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara, has been forced to seek justice for Tricia Bansupaul who is currently recovering from injuries sustained in an accident involving a Hilux vehicle on November 13, 2015.The worried mother told this publication that on the day in question her daughter was on her way to buy chicken at a nearby shop, when the vehicle allegedly hit the child.She stated she was in the veranda and saw the Hilux pickup moving along the roadway at a very fast pace. She heard the loud impact but did not see her daughter. She subsequently made a report at the Vigilance Police Station and noticed that updates were not being provided in a timely manner.She related that every time she called the police station, she would be told that the driver is sick and has not made an appearance.Most significantly, she said that the Police never marked out the spot of the accident, a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) in such matters.“I think he has connections. They are pushing us around. All they are doing is calling us now and then and telling us nothing of significance; they keep prolonging the process.”She added that the family has never been compensated for the ordeal they had to endure.
